VitaLift Infusion

IV Anxiety, Needle Phobia & Multiple-Attempt Policy

Purpose

VitaLift Infusion is committed to providing a safe, compassionate, and comfortable experience for every client receiving IV hydration, vitamin infusions, injections, or other services requiring venous access.

We recognize that some clients experience significant anxiety or fear associated with needles or IV placement. Needle anxiety may cause increased tension, movement, dizziness, nausea, sweating, fainting, or difficulty tolerating the IV insertion process. Anxiety may also make successful IV placement more challenging.

Clients are encouraged to inform VitaLift Infusion staff before their appointment if they:

  • Have significant fear or anxiety related to needles or IV placement.

  • Have previously fainted during blood draws, injections, or IV placement.

  • Have a history of difficult IV access.

  • Typically require multiple attempts for successful IV placement.

  • Have previously required ultrasound-guided IV placement or another vascular-access specialist.

Comfort and Safety Measures

When appropriate and available, VitaLift Infusion staff may use additional measures to help clients tolerate IV placement, including positioning, relaxation techniques, distraction, additional preparation time, and other appropriate comfort measures.

The client's safety remains the priority. A qualified provider may stop or postpone an IV placement when continued attempts are not considered appropriate or safe.

IV Placement Attempts

Each IV insertion attempt requires new sterile supplies and additional clinical staff time. Used needles and related single-use supplies must be discarded and cannot be reused.

VitaLift Infusion will follow its clinical protocol regarding the maximum number of IV insertion attempts by an individual clinician and when another qualified clinician should be asked to attempt placement.

Successful IV access cannot be guaranteed.

Multiple-Attempt / Difficult-Access Surcharge

The standard service price includes the initial IV-placement attempt(s) specified by VitaLift Infusion's current fee schedule.

When additional attempts are necessary because of difficult venous access, significant needle anxiety, client movement, loss of access, or another client-specific circumstance, a Multiple-Attempt/Difficult-Access Surcharge of $_____ may apply.

This fee is not a penalty for having needle phobia or anxiety. It is intended to cover the additional clinical time and sterile, single-use supplies required for additional IV-placement attempts.

When the need for additional attempts can reasonably be anticipated, the applicable surcharge will be explained to the client and prepaid before additional attempts are performed.

Payment of the surcharge does not guarantee successful IV placement or completion of the infusion.

If IV access cannot be safely established, VitaLift Infusion reserves the right to discontinue the procedure and discuss available alternatives with the client.

Client Acknowledgment

  • I understand that IV placement involves insertion of a catheter into a vein and that successful placement cannot be guaranteed.

  • I have informed VitaLift Infusion of any known needle/IV phobia, history of fainting, difficult venous access, or previous difficulty obtaining IV access.

  • I understand that additional IV-placement attempts may require additional sterile supplies and clinical time and may therefore result in the disclosed Multiple-Attempt/Difficult-Access Surcharge.
